Shifting Identities

Playwright Tali Ariav joins us to talk about her work, as well as John Watkins from Rosalee Motor Revival with a new song for AIA, and Sean Christopher Lewis presents his first audio essay.

Playwright and translator Tali Ariav’s work reflects her experience growing up in Israel where she worked with an avant guard theatre company performing political street theatre.  Since coming to the US, she has been translating the work of Israeli playwrights, teaching Hebrew, and writing her own plays in English.  She joins us to talk about working as a theatre artist in two countries and what it is like to be “in between languages”. She’ll read a selection of her translation (in English and Hebrew) and we’ll hear an excerpt from her new play, “Layla Tov”.

John Watkins drops by for a visit... and a studio session.  He has a new song for us called “Love is Cool”.

Finally, Sean Christopher Lewis presents the first of what AIA hopes will be many audio-essays. The piece describes Sean’s “audition” for a world famous director.
